PRESS RELEASE:
San Francisco, CA. – February 2, 2012 – Kountermove is very proud to announce that Randy “The Natural” Couture and his son Ryan Couture will be hosting a Kountermove charity tournament during UFC® 143 to benefit the ‘It Ain’t Chemo’ foundation. The charity aids families with loved ones that are battling cancer.

The tournament, Randy Couture’s “It Ain’t Chemo” Charity Tournament has a $1,500 prize pool and top prize of $540. The entry fee is $10. All Kountermove proceeds from the tournament will be donated to ‘It Ain’t Chemo.’

‘It Ain’t Chemo’ is an organization that provides cancer patients with comfort and care supplies, advice, and emotional support. Founded by firefighter and cancer survivor Kevin Hoyt, the charity raises awareness for its cause through the endorsements of local and national celebrities including Randy Couture, Forrest Griffin, Martin Kampmann, Clay Guida, Kevin Randleman and many others.

According to Aaron Ard, co-founder of Kountermove, “We are thrilled to put together a tournament hosted by Randy and Ryan Couture for such a worthy cause. All proceeds from the 165 player Kountermove tournament will go to ‘It Aint Chemo’ to benefit families with loved ones going through chemotherapy.”

Kountermove’s fantasy MMA games work very similar to fantasy football. Members draft a team of fighters and compete with that team against other Kountermove players in their league. Members have a $25,000 “salary cap” when drafting their fantasy team of fighters, each fighter has a “salary” designated by Kountermove. Members choose from free or entry fee games of varying sizes.

Winners and losers are then determined by fantasy points earned based on each fighter’s performance – strikes landed, submission attempts, knockdowns, dominant positions, rounds won, and knockout or submission bonuses.

After each event, Kountermove updates game results by listing the points members received for that event, the rankings, and prize pool winners. All entry fees are added into a prize pool that is divided among the league’s winners at the end of the game. Visit www.kountermove.com for full details on the Kountermove fantasy MMA scoring system.

To enter Randy Couture’s “It ain’t Chemo” Kountermove Charity Tournament please log on to www.kountermove.com, click on the tournament link, and draft your Fantasy MMA team! Have fun playing fantasy MMA while giving back to those in need!

About ‘It Ain’t Chemo’:
It Ain’t Chemo™ is a boots on the ground non-profit (applied for) organization in Las Vegas, Nevada that directly supplies patients with comfort items, advice and emotional support. Launched in January 2010 by Kevin Hoyt, cancer survivor and Las Vegas resident, the idea for It Ain´t Chemo™ came about in 2002 when after a very bad day Hoyt said, “Well, it ain’t chemo.” As a member of the fire service for more than 20 years, including four years in the United States Air Force, Hoyt brings his firefighting heritage into play by going directly to the people who are suffering. While holding no contempt for organizations that commit funds to research, Team It Ain´t Chemo™ is a hands-on response-type of organization.

Operating completely anonymously for the past four years, Hoyt personally visits cancer patients who are currently undergoing chemotherapy, radiation therapy or who are confined to their homes. With the permission of their doctors, Hoyt brings them what he now calls IAC™ Packs containing blankets vitamins, books, movies, tips and advice on dealing with cancer treatment side effects. Hoyt also provides patients with his own personal contact information to let them know that he will be there if they need him, any time…day or night.

PRESS RELEASE: – January 26, 2012

Las Vegas, NV – Tuff-N-Uff is proud to announce that UFC Veteran Frank Trigg will join John Morgan from Mmajunkie.com to call the action live tomorrow night from South Point Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada for “Tuff-N-Uff: Beauties, Beasts and Beers.” The event will air live on Blackbelt Television starting at 8pm PST/11pm EST.

According to Frank Trigg, “I’m definitely looking forward to calling the action at the Tuff-N-Uff event this Friday night with John Morgan. The card is stacked with competitive fights in both the men’s and women’s divisions. It’s going to be a great night of fights! Tune in to watch the live MMA action on Blackbelt TV.”

The event will feature six beauties in a trio of female fights, 18 beasts competing in nine men’s MMA contests and a sampling of six different beers, which will be part of a complimentary sampling menu available to all ticket holders. The promotion will also be hosting an official “Beauties, Beasts and Beers” pre-party, featuring live music and the start of the evening’s beer tasting.

The night’s featured female fight pits Reign Training Center’s Rachael Cummins (0-1) against Legends MMA product Kristi Lopez (1-0), who in February earned a TKO win in her amateur MMA debut. Fans can expect an all-out war when these ladies face off in the cage.

The night’s lineup of “Beasts” is headlined by a featherweight title fight as once-beaten champion Cesar Campos (9-1) takes on hard-hitting 10th Planet Riverside product Trace Gray (8-2). Campos, a five-time Tuff-N-Uff veteran, went 8-0 in 2011 and looks primed for a successful professional career, but Gray – the current California Amateur Mixed Martial Arts Organization (CAMO) lightweight state champion – will certainly provide a stern test, as evidenced by his previous four hard-fought wins under the Tuff-N-Uff banner.

In addition to the night’s featured contests, a full lineup of aspiring amateur fighters from some of the world’s top academies – including 10th Planet Riverside, Cascao Jiu-Jitsu, Legends MMA, Team Beastman, Throwdown, Wand Fight Team and Xtreme Couture – will compete at Tuff-N-Uff’s Jan. 27 event. The full fight card is available for viewing at www.TuffNUff.net.

Tickets for “Tuff-N-Uff: Beauties, Beasts and Beers” start at just $25 and can be purchased by calling the South Point Arena Box Office at 702-797-8055 at or online at www.SouthPointArena.com and www.TuffNUff.net. The pre-party kicks off on Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. PT local time.

For more information on the event please visit www.TuffNUff.net. For more information on Frank Trigg, please visit www.Franktrigg.com or follow him on Twitter @FRANKTRIGG.

PRESS RELEASE: Jan. 18, 2012

“Action Sports Network Connects Fans to Top Athletes From Around The World”

NEW YORK – - The future of action sports begins today and it will be televised exclusively on YouTube. Bedrocket Media Ventures and Wasserman Media Group announce the exclusive preview of Network A a new network featuring some of the best athletes and filmmakers from around the world presenting an unprecedented collection of new and original shows. Plus, Network A, from the same team that invented ESPN Classic, will dig into the vaults and share the most amazing and defiant performances and personalities in the history of action sports featuring top athletes.

One of the features that makes Network A unique is its programming strategy that recognizes the individual characteristics of the different verticals it serves: Skate, Snow, Ski, Surf, BMX, Moto, and Rally. Fans, blogs, athletes, and media outlets will have the ability to embed the Network A player wherever they want, but will have the opportunity to select the entire network feed, or just the individual channel they care most about.

“Some of the best and most innovative filmmaking in all of entertainment is coming from skaters and surfers and the rest of the action world, so it seems natural to build a new kind of network to help fund and share this stuff with the community,” said Brian Bedol, founder and CEO of Bedrocket. “Our goal is to work with both the established and the yet-to-be-discovered filmmakers and pros, and give them a place to connect directly with the biggest audiences in the world.”

Ciprian Hangan vs Jose Sanchez
Brad Cox vs Hayward Charles
Donnie Bell vs Keith Miner
Eli Tamez vs Nelson Salas
Burt McDonald vs Jonathan Wise
Aldo Davila vs Andrew Parker
Victor Reyna vs Andre Kavanaugh
Casey Hudson vs Klayton Mai
Aaron Culpepper vs Antuan Williams

185lbs Ciprian Hangan (2-0 DallasMMA300- 2011 XKO “Knockout of the Year” winner) vs Jay Jay Sanchez (2-0) This is a highly anticipated matchup between 2 of the fastest rising superstars in XKO! Ciprian Hangan has definitely made a HUGE impact in the 185 division with 2 devastating Knockouts (Steve Hess, Chris Collins) in his first 2 appearances in XKO! The man that plans on stopping Ciprian is Jay Jay Sanchez an undefeated fighter who is best known for the perfectly timed “Knee” to end the fight against top MMA fighter JJ Holmes! This is a fight you don’t want to miss! “I knock people out, that’s what I do” – Ciprian Hangan

155lbs Donnie Bell (3-1 Metroflex MMA) vs Keith Miner (4-2 Mohlers MMA) Donnie Bell makes his return to the XKO cage to face XKO newcomer Keith Miner. With a perfect record in XKO Bell is a crowd favorite! Bell is one of XKO’s featured fighters with a strong wrestling background and knockout power!

180lbs Brad Cox (2-0 Fitness Fight Factory) vs Hayward “The Hybrid” Charles (3-2 Ironside/pur-fit and Genesis) It’s hard to describe the excitement for this fight! Brad Cox is one of the most well known fighters in the area with a reputation for dominating fights! He steps into the cage against one of the top fighters in XKO – Hayward “The Hybrid” Charles! Hayward is coming off an impressive victory over XKO newcomer Andre Kavanaugh with a :43 sec triangle choke submission. Known for his Jiu Jitsu Hayward is arguably the best Jiu Jitsu specialist in the company! A great match-up that will bring fireworks! “I don’t care who you put in front of me, I’ll fight them because I want to be at the top” – Hayward Charles

170lbs Aaron Culpepper (1-0 The Gym Arlington, TX) vs Antuan Williams (0-2) Aaron Culpepper’s pro-debut at XKO 13 was what fight fans talked about for weeks after he got the victory and “Fight of the Night” honors! Aaron is a powerful striker, aggressive but yet calm in the cage! He takes on XKO newcomer Antwan Williams, a former training partner and current striking coach who knows the striking game and is not afraid to trade punches! You can expect this fight to be a striking battle with someone ending the fight with a KO or TKO!

170lbs Andrew Parker (1-0 Octagon MMA) vs Aldo Davila (pro-debut The Gym) Andrew Parker made his pro-debut at XKO and took “Fight of the Night” honors. Andrew is a well rounded fighter who can take the fight almost anywhere he wants. Parker will be taking on Aldo Devila an exciting fighter making his pro-debut! Also is coming off an impressive amateur career and looks to continue his success at the pro level! This has “Fight of the Night” written all over it!

135lbs Eli Tamez (3-0 Octagon MMA) vs Nelson Salas (2-0 Texas Fighting Syndicate) When XKO asked Eli and Nelson about this fight both fighters did not hesitate to sign the contract! This is not the first time the fighters have faced each other, both fighters crossed paths as amateurs with Eli getting the win by submission. Both Eli and Nelson are fast and explosive. This will be a fast paced fight for the fight fan and a good matchup that will not disappoint.

185lbs Victor Reyna (pro-debut The Gym) vs Andre Kavanaugh (2-2 Austin, TX) Andre Kavanaugh is known for is heavy hands and brawler type of style. With a split record Andre looks to get his first win in XKO. He will be taking on Victor Reyna a solid striker who can finish the fight at any given moment! Victor has only had 1 defeat as a amateur and believes he is ready for the pro level. We are excited to see new faces in XKO and see what happens in this fight!

150lbs Burt McDonald (1-2 Texas Fighting Syndicate) vs Johnathan Wise (1-2 Garland Police Boxing Gym) When it comes to Burt McDonald the first thing you think about is… “what a class act”. Burt is a “Fight of the Night” recipient and has faced 2 of the top 155ers in the XKO division (Chris Pecero and Donnie Bell). Training out of Texas Fighting Syndicate Burt is well known in the MMA community! With a boxing background Burt wants to keep his fights striking! At XKO 14 Burt will match up with the perfect opponent with an identical record and fighting style. Johnathan Wise makes his XKO Debut out of Garland Police Boxing Academy and looks to make a statement against the XKO veteran McDonald. I see this fight going 3 rounds and possibly “Fight of the Night”!

145lbs Casey Hudson (Pro-debut Fitness Fight Factory) vs Klayton Mai (1-0 Octagon MMA) Both fighters are new to XKO! This fight will come down to pure skill. Both fighters are aggressive and strong. Fighting out the two top schools in DFW both fighters will come prepared! Don’t blink during this fight because anything can happen!

PRESS RELEASE:

San Francisco, CA. – January 4, 2012 – The Kountermove fantasy MMA movement continued to display strong momentum over the holiday weekend, drawing the attention of thousands of MMA fans, fighters and key media players. The site gained a significant number of new members leading up to UFC® 141. Kountermove members completed a total of 1,850 game entries and competed for $5,700 in cash prizes.

UFC® 141?s most valuable Kountermove fantasy fighter was Nate Diaz who scored 149 fantasy points for a salary of $3,900. Jim Hettes and Alistair Overeem were also very good draft choices, with Hettes chalking up 116.5 fantasy points for a salary of $3,300 and Overeem, 112.5 points for a salary of $5,800. The least valuable UFC® 141 Kountermove fantasy fighter was Jon Fitch. Fitch cost Kountermove players $6,200 but yielded zero points.

The best possible Kountermove fantasy team that a player could draft for UFC® 141 under the $25,000 salary cap was Alistair Overeem, Nate Diaz, Johny Hendricks, Alexander Gustafsson, and Jim Hettes.

Congrats to Kountermove member E-LoGic who scored 563 points, the highest total fantasy points in an entry fee game for UFC 141 with Dong Hyun Kim (77), Nate Diaz (149), Alistair Overeem (112.5), Jim Hettes (116.5) and Alexander Gustafsson (108).

Randy “The Natural” Couture, who finished a respectable 13th out of 22 players in Kountermove’s first ever MMA Media Knockout Invitational tournament for UFC® 141, had this to say about fantasy MMA.

“Fantasy MMA is fun for fans; Kountermove makes watching MMA events with their friends even more fun and exciting. Kountermove fantasy MMA is also important for fighters, especially up-and-coming fighters. Fans get to know these fighters better by drafting them on their Kountermove fantasy teams. The Kountermove experience is much more than ‘pick a winner’ type involvement for players.”

Brian Hemminger (@gotahemmi) of MMAMania.com was the MMA Media Knockout Invitational tournament champion. Brian amassed 534 fantasy points on the road to victory with his team of fighters – Alistair Overeem, Nate Diaz, Alexander Gustafsson, Ross Pearson, and Jim Hettes. Damon Martin (@damonmartin) of MMAWeekly.com came in a strong second, with 455.5 fantasy points.

Brian Hemminger of MMAMania.com had this to say about his experience on Kountermove, “Kountermove goes above and beyond the current MMA fantasy options. It forces you to take a deeper look at every match up, strategically pick the most viable upsets and not only pick who you think will win, but how badly. With real time updating of statistics and points, Kountermove kept me on my toes until the final fight of the night.”

Damon Martin, host of MMAWeekly Radio had this to add, “Kountermove added a really cool experience to UFC 141. It was fun watching every fight and as an added bonus the results helped get my Kountermove team closer and closer to a victory. Best part is, I won some money and got a few bragging rights as well. Great experience and I will be back to claim the title!

Rounding out the top five money winners in the MMA Media Knockout Invitational was Kountermove’s very own ‘Math Class Teacher’, Caitlin McNally (@caitlinmcn), Denny Hodge of ProMMAnow.com (@ProMMAnowDenny), and Matt Manzella of CageReligion.com (@cagereligion).

PRESS RELEASE: San Francisco, CA. – December 15, 2011

The Kountermove Fantasy MMA movement has gained some serious momentum in the MMA community. The site, Kountermove.com, backed in part by UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture, gives members the opportunity to test their MMA knowledge and prediction skills against other fans for the chance to win a designated prize pool of real money. It is the first and only MMA fantasy site where fans can win real money prizes.

According to Aaron Ard, founder of Kountermove, “We hope that Kountermove is lots of fun for MMA fans, and that it helps fans discover and really connect with fighters, especially up-and-coming fighters.”

Kountermove’s fantasy MMA games work very similar to fantasy football. Members draft a team of fighters and compete with that team against other Kountermove players in their game. Members have a $25,000 “salary cap” when drafting their fantasy team of fighters, each fighter has a “salary” designated by Kountermove. Members choose from fee or entry fee games of varying sizes.

Winners and losers are then determined by fantasy points based on each fighter’s performance – strikes landed, submission attempts, knockdowns, dominant positions, rounds won, and knockout or submission bonuses.

The place winners in each game are determined by total fantasy points earned by their team of fighters during the event. Each game is based on stats, not over all wins like a simple pick’em game, therefore even if a fighter on a member’s fantasy team loses; it is still possible for that member to win the game.

All entry fees are added into a prize pool that is divided among the league’s winners at the end of the game. After each event, Kountermove updates game results by listing the points members received for that event, the rankings, and prize pool winnings.

The Kountermove scoring system:

- Significant Strikes Landed: .5 points each
- Takedown or Reversal: 2 points each
- Submission Attempts: 3 points each
- Knockdowns: 3 points each
- Dominant Position: 2 points each
- Victory by Knockout, Submission, DQ, or other: 100 points (1st Round); 75 points (2nd Round); 50 points (3rd, 4th, or 5th Round)

The numbers from UFC 140 demonstrate that Kountermove’s Fantasy MMA movement is definitely gaining traction in the MMA community. Over 1,500 players entered Kountermove games this weekend- four times as many players as the Kountermove fantasy MMA tournaments played for UFC 139.

Kountermove awarded over $4,500 in cash prizes to winning players over the UFC 140 weekend. Randy “The Natural” Couture even joined in on the tournament play and ranked a respectable 16th in a 50 player Kountermove Fantasy MMA tournament sponsored by MMA H.E.A.T.

Join the Kountermove movement at www.kountermove.com. Learn more about How It Works on the Kountermove website as well.

It is the first and only MMA fantasy site where users compete for real cash prize pools. It is fun, friendly, fair, and legal. Fans can win cash by drafting teams of MMA fighters in salary cap-style games. Beyond that, it also provides a compelling platform for interaction between fighters and fans.
Trigg went on to say, “Fans can access all of my information, easily, directly from their phone. The ‘Trigg MMA’ app has it all! It even includes a video cookbook, where I personally teach fans how to cook some of my favorite meals. There’s nothing else out there like it!”

With the ‘Trigg MMA’ App fans can follow Trigg’s weekly playlist to see what he’s working out to, read his bio, check out his fight stats, and gain quick access to his Twitter and blog feeds. Fans can also find out when and where Trigg will be next with the ‘calendar of events’ feature. …And that’s not all!

Subscribers can also view fan photos, submit their own photos (which may be featured in the app), AND have fun with the five different “face off” green screens. The different green screens allow fans to insert their own photo to create fun face-off poses with Trigg!

The final section of the ‘Trigg MMA’ app gives subscribers access to exclusive videos (Cooking with Trigg, Training Tips, Fight Predictions and more!) This content cannot be found anywhere else and is only available through an in-app subscription ($1.99/month or $4.99/lifetime.) Lifetime subscribers will receive bonus ‘Triggism’ audio content (only accessible in the Lifetime subscription section of the App.)

Legacy has joined the cause as well. We will be selling T-shirts on our website (starting in December) to raise money for the charity. Fans can also text the keyword GIFT to 80077 to make a $10 donation.”
